Nilotica shea butter is part of the same family of tree as the commonly known shea butter, Butyrospermum Parkii. The essential difference is that Nilotica Shea has a creamy texture and looks like thick custard at room temperature (20C). It melts in contact with the skin, spreads smoothly and easily and goes deep into the layers of the skin very quickly.
Its unique texture and abilities to soothe the skin have made it very popular and a sought-after ingredient in skin care applications. It can be used as is or included in formulas alongside other vegetable oils. Essential oils can be added up to a concentration of 2 to3% depending on the type of application. 1% is the recommended dosage.

Like all butters, the solidity of Nilotica Shea will vary depending on the ambient temperature, becoming more solid as the temperature cools down and turning into thick to runny custard as it warms up.
