Shea Butter Nilotica is considered the luxury shea butter due to its creamy consistency and soft texture. It is produced from trees that grow in the Eastern parts of Africa, mainly Uganda, southern Soudan and Kenya.
It is not to be confused with its Western African counterpart Vitellaria paradoxa (formerly known as Buttyrospermum parkii) which is found on the dry savannah belt of West and Central Africa. Most shea butters on the market are extracted from the nuts of the paradoxa trees, which produce a butter that is solid at room temperature.
